In near future we are about to move our on-site Exchange server into the cloud (exchange and archive included in Office 365 E3). I just had a brainstorming with some collegues: Microsoft also handles our Email Archiving now, which was another cost and administrative burden we were able to eliminate. Granted, we had an on-site exchange that was MASSIVE overkill, and no longer required by very outdated and ill informed policies that had previously been in place. purchasing bulks of the current Office Suite, and O365 won hands down for us. We looked at it as a cost per year versus cost per few years when comparing O365 Vs. However, Office 365 simplified and eliminated so many costs and headaches that I can't justify any alternatives (we had previously been using volume purchases of the standalone office suites). I realize that being in the US, I may well have it easier than some. keeping Office updated was reasonably impossible due to constraints on my time coupled with the expanse of my duties, while that is a complete non-issue with O365. I'm using Office 365 with automated updating and absolutely LOVE how much trouble and time it has saved me! ^.^ Without centralized patch management. We have about 60 client computers, licenses wouldn't be a problem going either way.
